O, Draconian devil! Oh, lame hat!

SO DARK THE CON OF OWL HAT PATTERN

Here is where you start to panic and proceed to decreasing several rows earlier than instructed. Maybe I just don't have a "medium" sized head, but most normal hat patterns fit me or even need a couple extra rows. I got gauge dammit! Much props to the cable pattern though. Try again I must, this time making the ribbing a bit taller, and just doing a few rows of Stst before and after the owls instead.

Why is it that I have turned out a solid baker’s dozen hats in the last year and next to nil of anything else?

1. There is just something about the rhythm between your hands when knitting on short circulars, they feel more connected. I fumble so much with sticks!

2. I find that finishing rounds is more fast paced than knitting rows. I do a lot less pausing to pull down stitches and examine progress.

3. They take one skein of yarn…economical and a good project for handspun

4. I like hats

5. My kids look cute in hats

6. Decreasing is awesome, like the adrenaline rush one needs to make it to the finish line.

7. I love Bryspun circulars. They have this great little squeaky feel as the stitches move along.

For many of these reasons I’m really hoping that I can find a complementary sock knitting method. DPNs are ok, but I worry so much about dropping stitches that it’s none too relaxing, so I’m going to give Magic Loop a try. If successful, I think my taste for knitting projects may become much like my taste for Taco Bell…a 7-layer Burrito and Caramel Apple Empenada. Why even try something else? It just doesn’t get any better folks!

I've read my share of Dan Brown, but not lately.

I know this is 2 owl craft posts in a row,and oh yeah there were the owl bags a few posts back. I swear I'm not that big of a dork for owls. I think invisible ones must be nesting in my craft stash or something.
